DU ROI BRINGS JOY AT FIRST COMMUNITY PLAY DAY
More than 400 children from Nkambako village in Limpopo, close to the Du Roi businesses, were treated to a day of fun, laughter and learning at the first-ever Play Day, hosted by the ClemenGold Foundation and generously supported by volunteers from the Du Roi business.
Du Roi staff bring joy and learning to Nkambako’s first Play Day
The village of Nkambako in Limpopo recently came alive with excitement as over 400 young children experienced their very first Play Day, a vibrant celebration of fun and learning. Organised by the ClemenGold Foundation and warmly supported by volunteers from Du Roi, the day offered a memorable blend of playful discovery and community connection.
The event is an extension of the Foundation’s Teacher Toolbox Programme, which supports rural Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres with practical resources and hands-on training. While the programme usually focuses on equipping teachers, Play Day shifted the spotlight to the children, showing how powerful learning through play can be.
Du Roi staff volunteered their weekend time to run activities and engage with the children and to connect with teachers and the local community to show their support.
From jumping castles and LEGO DUPLO play zones to face painting, musical chairs and the crowd-favourite naartjie-and-spoon race, the energy was high and the smiles wide. As one teacher shared, “We’ve seen real transformation in our classrooms thanks to this programme. Today, the children saw learning as joy.”
For many children, it was a day of firsts. For the Du Roi team, it was a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact through service.
